Our Rich History
Celebrating 65 Years
For 65 years, the Ukrainian Debutante Ball has been a meaningful rite of passage shared by generations. Grandmothers who once walked as debutantes watched their daughters do the same, and now proudly witness their granddaughters continue the tradition. Families come together to celebrate not only these young women, but the enduring pride, culture, and connection that unite our community.
Through dance, ceremony, and cultural pride, this anniversary will be an evening of grace and beauty celebrating a legacy shared across generations.
The Ukrainian Debutante Ball is one of Chicago’s most beloved cultural traditions. This event is more than an elegant evening. It’s a proud celebration of heritage, a rite of passage for young women in our community, and a meaningful display of unity among generations of Ukrainian Americans.
Held in cities like Kyiv, Vienna, and New York, the Ukrainian Debutante Ball is an international tradition that highlights the beauty of our culture and the strength of our community. Chicago has proudly hosted this event since 1961 and we are thrilled to continue the legacy.
Current Day Debutantes
Today’s debutantes are modern young women deeply rooted in their cultural identity. Many are second-generation Ukrainian Americans who speak the language, attend Ukrainian school, participate in Ukrainian scouting and dance, and carry forward the values their families have preserved for generations.
